Certainly the golden year at Donington Park, a full field of 500cc two stroke machines. It wasn't a matter of who rode at Donington, just try to think of someone from that era how didn't ride there. The early eighties were great, the last of the really trans atlantic races were run at Donington. The transatlantic races were never really the same after two strokes had gone, OK Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz put on a good show but that was about it.

I have been going to the race meetings at Scarborough since 1979. I usually went to the spring cup and the steve henshaw gold cup, but in more recent years only the Steve henshaw meeting in September. I have only mist four years, i've been bitten by the bug. I only live six miles from Donington and twelve from Mallory but rarely go to either, after Oliver's mount its just a circus.

If you've never been you need too, its the nearest thing we have to the Isle of Man, but without the ferry. B&B's are plentiful and cheap. There are three meetings a year, so why not go this year.

Oliver's mount Scarborough are holding 3 bike events this year. The festival of speed/spring cup, bike and car hill climb on the 5/6th May and the spring cup bike meeting on the 7th May. Scarborough bike week is 24th June - 1st July, including the Cock o' the North meeting 30th June and 1st July. The international gold cup will run on the 15/16th September.

A meeting not to be missed this year is The festival of 1,000 bikes ant mallory park on the 8th and 9th of July.
